Benifits of your own servers.

Postby Connor on Wed Jun 06, 2007 10:09 pm

If anyone runs or wants to run a server, it could seem quite tough and hard...Well I'm only 13 and find servers really easy...There are so much things people say to running your own server:

No limits on anything = Almost.
They are very slow = Your server is faster than mostly any shared host.
You can install any program for your server = Depending on your ISP.
Your servers need to be ran on a top of the range server computer = Not needed really.
It takes time and effort running a server = Well, not for me.

If you have anymore questions or want to ask how to set up a server, contact me by MSN or E-mail at:

If you find it so easy, why do I not have hosting? :P

I could yeah...Except for I can't afford cPanel...

Also I can't set up a mail server or DNS, so nobody could have automated sub-domains or send mail. :(

What are you using that server for? I'm interested in putting up a webserver myself. Does anybody know if 300mbps is enough for people to access 5-10 sites hosted in a home server?

BTW, there's always ISPconfig for webserver/ISP administration Xuthus. Doesn't compare with cPanel but it's FREE. And can't we use OpenDNS?

@xuthus

I want to put a web server on an Ubuntu desktop. I've already installed Apache, MySQL, and PHP. YOu know what's next? Do I need to have ISPconfig? Thanks.

What you need is a panel and an automated sign up...You could probably get cPanel easy if you look around *Winks*...Then you would have your own web hosting company...:D

:)

I don't wanna look around. :D I'll just stick with free and open source. It's just for fun anyway. I'll try to set-up an intranet.
