phpBB/Site integration?

Postby lakeccrunner on Wed Dec 19, 2007 3:41 am

Does anyone know how to integrate phpBB forums with your main site?

I've been trying but I can't do it. I know it can be done, but I can't figure out how...

Upload phpbb to either a subdomain or directory on your site. If you have tables already set up on your website, you can either add the phpbb sql table fields to your tables or add your table fields to the phpbb tables. That way when a person logs on to your site, they will also be logged on to the forums. Thats basically all you need to do. Any questions feel free to ask.

One option is to use WP-United and integrate a WordPress installation and a phpBB3 installation. I use it on my site. Check it out in my sig. The integration works well. One feature that does not work is a cross-posting feature where your blog posts automatically create a forum topic. It is only a minor inconvenience that this is not functional.

There's a lot of stuff out there to integrate, it. But nothing for a full integration, unless you use an expensive CMS system like subdreamer...
