I think one reason why most domain TLDs cost a lot is because of the lobbying effort of the major players in the domain name industry to limit everything to drive the prices up. Freeing domain names from this restrictions will give us more choices and will also drive the prices down. That's the nature of competition. :D

Sorry, but it's okay.

Basically, what it means is, if the petition goes through and is approved by ICANN, we can have any TLD we want to register like .kid for 17 year-olds and below. So we can buy most TLDs at the current price of .infos. :D
